The mixing stage utilizes a custom designed hi-res DAW setup which includes several multi-processor Zeon computers on a giga-bit network, providing the DSP for as many tracks as we would need. We use this same setup for film scoring where we often use 80-100. An expansion chassis holds UAD1 & UAD2 Quad 5xDSPcards and licenses for nearly all the amazing UAD plug collection. Which includes incredibly accurate models of the ultimate classic eq's and compressors, including; LA-2A, 1176LN, Fairchild 670, Pultec EQP-1A, Plate 140, Neve 1073, 1081, 33609, 88RS, SPL, SSL 4000, and more (practically all the UAD plug collection). In addition, we can plug in numerous other top-end kool plugs; amp modelers, vocoders, harmonizers, samplers, synths, modulators, filters, reverbs, delays, compressors, etc. (All we would ever need).
There are some who say that "in-the-box" mixing will not provide the same results as a classic Neve, API, or SSL console setup. This has been very true, and still is often true. Modern World Studio has designed a setup utilizing super fast CPUs and UAD plugs that configured and used skillfully can achieve this golden sound. Plus, remaining in the digital domain provides plenty of tracks, super control and lower noise.
MIDI is a powerful production tool that we use to the max, both in tracking and during the mix. And there is no better MIDI DAW app than the rich MIDI tool set in Logic.
